INDUSTRIAL PLANTS

Course objectives

OBJECTIVES The course aims to provide the knowledge base of industrial production systems through their identification and classification, the definition of performance dimensions and the identification of the main design and management issues. The course provides the characteristic elements and the analytical models to size production systems, to design and balance processes, to evaluate technical alternatives and to address profitability analysis. EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES Knowledge and understanding: knowledge of organizational and performance elements of industrial plants, with emphasis on reliability and profitability, aimed at designing and balancing production processes. Capability: Ability to develop analysis, to model problems, and to identify the best techniques for solving the major issues of industrial plants design: investment analysis, reliability analysis, sizing, balancing, and layout configuration of resources.
