Course objectives

Educational Goals: The three-year course aims at the Korean language acquisition through the grammar knowledge, reading and comprehension abilities, translation and composition practice. Lectures are focused on different communication tasks that the student is called to play in the domains of social life. They are supported by language instructors lectures that include hours of conversations and practical tests at the language lab. Specific Goals: At the end of the three-year period the student must reach a good oral and written communication skills, and be able to carry out translations from and into Korean. With the achievement of the Third year, the student must be able to cover the B1 and B2 levels of the common European reference framework and acquire the necessary skills for the TOPIK II Proficiency Test and be able to gain the level 3 and 4.

Course program
The ten units are distributed in 21 weeks of lessons. Each lesson includes explanation of grammar rules, exercise on their use, textual translation and verification in class, and simultaneous translation of previous units. Each unit comprenhends also Textual Analysis of texts presnt as Further reading in each unit. WORK ON THE TEXT: each unit of the manual includes texts on different topics, in-depth reading of texts which will be translated, followed by text analysis and simultaneous translation exercise.
Prerequisites
To be enrolled in a Bachelor degree in Oriental Languages and Civilization.

Frequency
Highly recommended frequency in presence.
Exam mode
The exam includes a compulsory written test, which results in a suitability assessment, preliminary to the oral exam evaluated in thirtieths. The written test consists of the application of grammatical rules, the translation of sentences from and into Korean, and a short composition in Korean.
Lesson mode
The teacher covers the grammar and exercises on translation, the readers cover the hours of exercises on reading, conversation, grammar rules, lexicon, listening and writing. The first part is focused on grammar, grammar exercises and translation, while the second part on the acquisition of lexicon, reading, conversation, grammar rules, listening and writing.
