CINEMA AND CRITICAL WRITING

Course objectives

The course aims to introduce students to the theory and practice of film criticism, considered as fundamental moments in the construction of the meaning of the film. At the end of the course, students will learn, in addition to knowledge of what criticism is in general, and film criticism in particular, also to critically interpret films and authors.

Criticism, Aesthetics, and Poetics: Wim Wenders' Cinema The course will analyze the relationship between cinema and critical writing, and will be divided into a first part dedicated to the analysis of the specificity of critical discourse, situated between the singularity of the work and the creation of general interpretative categories; and a second part dedicated to the cinema of Wim Wenders and the characteristics of a reflexive modernity in cinema.
