Educational objectives The course enables students to:
● know and understand the fundamental concepts, key theories, and research
methods of urban anthropology; to comprehend the themes of migration from
an anthropological perspective and the transformative implications of spaces
in relation to human mobility religions (Descriptor 1);
● be able to apply anthropological concepts and theories for the analysis of
migration and urban phenomena (Descriptor 2);
● develop critical and autonomous awareness of judgment and analysis in
relation to migratory and urban phenomena (Descriptor 3);
● be able to communicate information, ideas, problems, and solutions clearly
and effectively to both specialist and non-specialist audiences using
appropriate language (Descriptor 4).

Educational objectives The general goal of the course is learning theories and methods for understanding artistic
works and processes with a mediological approach. A first section is required, related the
basics of media science; a second section is oriented to acquire the theoretical foundations of
mediological reflection on arts and to deal with interpretation problems, whilw a third
section, building on the skills acquired in the first two, is dedicated to examples of
interpretation, applied in the analysis of literary, artistic and spectacular texts and works.
Overall, the learning path provides as partial objectives:
a) the knowledge of basic notions of media science and its reflection on the arts, with its
foundations in Walter Benjamin, the sociology of literature and arts of the late twentieth
century and the McLuhan’s school of Toronto, and its developments in the 21st century;
b) enhancing the ability to apply knowledge through field analysis;
c) enhancing the ability to critically elaborate knowledge and experiences on the field;
d) developing specific communication skills, as writing complex papers;
e) enhancing learning skills through a blended learning experience (mix of lectures and
seminars, online platform activities, and individual work).

Educational objectives Three objectives are pursued: a) to acquire tools essential for the interpretation of media images, their history, and their reception; b) to develop the ability to reconstruct the reciprocal relationships between media representations and social environments; c) to conceive and compose a critical essay on specific topics addressed during the course.

- articulate a complex understanding of the history and problems of war and peace during the 20th and 21st century;
- articulate analyses about the history of war and the transformations of peace through time and in comparative perspective
- Critically analyze the role of culture, mass media, and intellectuals in shaping collective imageries, memories and ideas about peace and war
