Cardiovascular Physiopatology. Exercise Physiology. Respiratory, cardiovascular and metabolic adjustments and adaptations to physical exercise. Energy balance. Epidemiology of atherosclerosis. Cardiovascular risk factors: prevalence in Italy. Pathological effects of sedentariness and physical inactivity: the low grade chronic inflammation. Healthy effects of motor activities, physical exercise and aerobic fitness on hypertension, type II diabetes, overweight and obesity, dyslipidemia and in general risk of coronary heart attack and stroke.
Lifestyle as a medical therapy. Components of health related physical fitness. Prescription of exercise programs according to scientifically validated models.

Frequency
One University formative Credit (about 10 hours of lectures) is provided, divided in 3-4 blocks, within the integrated cardiology course (Integrated Pathology Ia) carried out in the II semester of the III year.
About 2,5 hours on ECG reading and interpretation are provided to small groups of students (about 15-20) for a total 25-30 hours of theoretical and practical didactical activities.
