Course objectives

At the end of the course the student must: be able to critically evaluate and correlate clinical symptoms / signs and functional alterations with the main gastrointestinal and endocrine pathologies; be able to do an anamnesis and an objective examination of the gastroenterological and endocrinological patient; be aware of the epidemiology and socio-economic impact of the main gastrointestinal and endocrine diseases.

Disorders of the gut-brain interactions; Esophageal motor disorders; Gastro-esophageal reflux disease and relative complications; Gastroduodenal Diseases (dyspepsia, acute and chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer and Helicobacter pylori infection); Celiac disease and food intolerances; Inflammatory bowel diseases and relative complications; Diverticular Disease; Acute and chronic pancreatitis; Acute and chronic liver disease of infectious, metabolic, iatrogenic or autoimmune etiology; Cholestatic diseases; Multiple endocrine syndromes and neuroendocrine tumors of the gastrointestinal tract. Professionalizing activities: Clinical history and examination of gastroenterological patient; Problem-solving activities in out-patients with gastrointestinal diseases.
