Giuseppe Lentini was educated at the Scuola Normale and the University of Pisa, and is an Associate Professor of Greek Language and Literature at Sapienza University of Rome. He was Arnaldo Momigliano Student at University College London and has held research and teaching positions at the University of Siena (Arezzo), the Center for Hellenic Studies in Washington, D.C., and the Université de Fribourg.
His research, focused particularly on archaic and classical Greek poetry and culture (Homer, lyric poetry, theater), strives to combine the utmost attention to textual evidence with the need to offer wide-ranging readings and interpretations from an interdisciplinary perspective (anthropology, linguistic pragmatics, etc.). He is the author of Il ‘padre di Telemaco’: Odisseo tra Iliade e Odissea (2006) and the editor of the essay collection Pratiche e teorie della comunicazione nella cultura classica (2021). Together with Micol Perfigli, he has recently published a translation with facing text and commentary notes of Cicero’s De Natura Deorum (2025). He is currently working on a monograph titled Tragic μῆτις: ‘Cunning intelligence’ after Homer.
